New Spirit! Sharing in the Divine Nature (booklet format)

God’s Spirit is given as a gift to all who are born again to become his children. How mind-boggling is that?! Yet how sad it is that there is so much confusion in Christendom about what that means in our lives as Christians. Some kinds of churches ignore and neglect teaching about the Holy Spirit, while others focus on and talk extensively about him and about what they believe about how he works.

Is all the confusion and disagreement inevitable? Did God not reveal clearly enough in the Bible what the role and working of his Spirit is in the lives of his children?

And furthermore, who do I think I am to tackle this subject and purport to have answers to the debate?

I’m thankful that over the years I’ve been exposed to many different sides of the debate about the Holy Spirit’s role in Christians’ lives, because it has forced me to try to make sense of what the Bible DOES say. It seems to me that the problem is not that the Bible itself is unclear or confusing, but that this subject is especially susceptible to being viewed as mystical (the subject is a SPIRIT, after all). People tend to base their beliefs on what seems right or what feels right or what they want the Holy Spirit to do for them.

So what I’m researching and writing about is to summarize what we CAN know, what God has revealed because he surely knows what we need to know in order to experience the benefits of his Spirit’s work on our behalf. We don’t always know or see what he’s up to until after the fact, and we need to be careful not to ascribe to him what hasn’t been revealed by God. But what we can know is encouraging and comforting enough to help us make it through this life!

This booklet is still a work in progress. I’ll post updates when any are ready.
